Meet Sound Artist’s Founder, Handpan Professional and Instructor
Prana Rising is a lifelong musician whose journey began with a foundation in classical percussion. Prana studied Music Education and Percussion Performance at the renowned Eastman School of Music, where they developed a deep understanding of how to play and teach music at the highest level possible.
While this traditional training shaped their early path, it was only one chapter of their evolving relationship with music. The discovery of world music, handpan, and sound healing in the decade that followed led them to a philosophy and purpose in music that is both holistic and universal in nature.
Today, as an educator, performer, and community-builder, Prana is passionate about making music feel accessible and alive for all people. Since the dream of Sound Artist became a reality, they have continued to cultivate a space where self-expression is the foundation of why we make music.

Sound Artist exists to restore music as a natural, human practice—one that belongs to everyone, not just the trained or the confident. We believe music is a birthright, a language that lives inside each person and waits to be expressed. Our work begins by removing the barriers that make music feel intimidating and replacing them with pathways that feel clear, supportive, and inviting.
At the heart of our mission is experience, with technique and knowledge of music introduced in service of expression. We create environments where students can feel themselves making music right away, allowing creativity to emerge without pressure or comparison. We exist to ignite a cultural shift from the passive listening of music to an active participation in it.
