Meet your Teacher
Mar Loi
Born in Tenerife (Canary Islands) and based in Girona (Catalonia), is recognized as one of the most prominent handpan performers on the international scene. Since 2017, when she discovered the instrument and taught herself to play, Mar Loi has become a passionate sound explorer, capable of blending sensitivity, technique, and emotion in every piece.
Her career has led her to share stages and projects with renowned handpan artists such as Mia Lev, Archer & Tripp, Danny Cudd (Hang Massive), Kabeçao, Alexander Mercks, and Amarok.
As an educator, Mar Loi is the founder and facilitator of Encuentros de Handpan in Barcelona (Musical Artistic Residences in groups) and she also runs individual residences for musicians. Mar has been part of the handpan school Kurdeolian and was co-organising the Singading Handpan Festival. Her way of teaching combines pedagogical sensitivity with artistic experience, offering workshops, courses, and international masterclasses — from beginner levels to artistic mentoring and professional development programs.
With a career that unites rootedness and creative freedom, Mar Loi continues to explore the power of sound as a universal language capable of connecting cultures, emotions, and human essence.
